BEX PAWSEY – CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Bex Pawsey is the creative force behind SHB Studio. Having worked globally in music, nightlife, beauty and fashion, Bex has a wealth of knowledge and experience, paired with a keen eye for detail and a flair for the extraordinary. Add to this an extensive international contact list of professionals within music, art, media and beauty plus a tireless work ethic and you have a creative force of nature able to deliver unique projects at the very highest level.
Starting her career at the renowned record label and events company Defected Records based in London, Bex ran events all around the world including Dubai, Moscow and Ibiza superclubs Pacha – revered as one of the most fashionable clubs on the planet – and Sankeys. She subsequently went on to establish it as one of the most respected clubs on the island, as well as overseeing the launch of their new venue in NYC.
Inspired by her Balearic surroundings, Bex went on to co-found and creatively direct Blowout Ibiza, the island’s first pop up hair and makeup service. Described as a “genius concept” by Harper’s Bazaar, Blowout Ibiza was set up as a salon that travelled all over the island, as well as being located at high-end beach clubs Blue Marlin, Beachouse and Pacha’s Destino. After securing partnerships with leading brands ghd, Bare Minerals and Davines, and as a result of its runaway success and the unique experience afforded to their clients, Bex was subsequently profiled in Company Magazine and consulted on the summer’s most desired beauty looks.
After a decade spent between Ibiza and London, as well as a period spent consulting for a music festival in Goa, India, Bex relocated to Hong Kong where she took the creative reigns at two high-end luxury music venues. At the first of these, Play, Bex led a huge rebranding project to become an opulent nightclub. Achievements at Play included securing Ciara as the opening guest for a paparazzi-filled Grand Opening party which put it firmly on the radar of the cities elite, as well as styling and directing many of the videos and photo shoots produced to promote the venue.
The second venue Bex led the launch of was Studio, a new upscale live music and late-night DJ venue. DJ bookings including Arthur Baker, Nick Monaco, Marshall Jefferson and Claptone quickly set the musical policy of the club apart from many of its competitors, and established Studio as one of the city’s chicest new venues.
The next destination was Singapore, where Bex joined the team at International hospitality and beauty collective, Spa Esprit Group to work her magic on the Tiong Bahru Bakery brand before moving back to the U.K to continue consulting with the group on their London based beauty brands Browhaus and Ministry of Waxing. Since being back in the UK, Bex has directed a venue rebrand project at iconic venue, 93 Feet East.
SHB embodies Bex’s creative spirit. Whatever she has done in her career, Bex lives and breathes her projects, throwing herself in with passion, inventiveness and originality. Work with her on a project, and you can rely on the results being utterly fabulous.
